I left Nashville first thing this morning {Well, not quite first thing. Thankfully my alarm went off at 6 am and not the dreaded 350 am. I sure do hate those 6 am flights.}
Two plane rides…
and a 5 hour bus ride later…
we have found all our people and arrived safely in Alta Verapaz, a mountainous region north of Guatemala City. The landscape on the drive was stunning. We drifted in and out of lanes, villages, rain storms and clouds.
We even stopped for some helado along the way. {I choose Pina Coloda and it was just as refreshing as it sounds.}
As soon as we arrived in Coban, we had a team dinner feast.
The group took turns sharing a little about themselves, where we are from, what we do and who we go home to. And then Amalia, one of our Guatemalan teams coordinators, told us some more about the communities we’ll visit and the work that we’ll see this week. I can already tell it’s going to be a great trip.
Jam-packed. Bridge-building. Faith-stretching.
That’s all for now. {I better get some rest.} But I hope you’ll check back in tomorrow to see how “Day 1” goes.
