Where Feet May Fail

It’s been a crazy couple of years. What was once a casual conversation between friends and colleagues around gathering like-hearted women has become so much more. (Read more about it here or skip to the bottom of the post.)

You call me out upon the waters

So much more fun {I’m getting there Jennie}. So much more audacious. So much more risky. So much more terrifying {Okay, that right there is how I really feel}. And me, the control freak that I am, wading in so much deeper than I am comfortable. Feet unsteady. Knees wobbling.

The great unknown where feet may fail

But it is here that I realize that I have to loosen my grip, let go of unfair expectations, and hold hope and possibility with open hands.

And there I find You in the mystery

And it is here that my faith is proven to be more than a desperate plea for more, more than a safety net, and more than words wrestled out in a blog post.

In oceans deep my faith will stand

Jesus, be here. With us.

And I will call upon Your name

Guide our steps. Keep our eyes focused on You. Keep us out of the fray that divides us. Teach us how to love one another. Father, let us be known by our love.

And keep my eyes above the waves

I know this isn’t going to be easy. We have found ourselves in treacherous waters. I feel it already. The enemy whispering lies, doubts, fears.

When oceans rise

But let me go to bed tonight singing Your melodies of love. Yes, Lord, quiet me with Your holy love and rejoice over me with singing.

My soul will rest in Your embrace

WE…are in this together.

For the Austin gathering, we are eliminating the set ticket price, and asking women to partner with us, by giving what they can to the mission of IF. We need everyone to join us in praying for God to provide the funds for us to turn the lights on! We don’t want to limit this gathering to a venue in Austin. We are throwing open the doors, and inviting women to join us via webcast. Our hope is that they gather with their friends, neighbors or others in their community and join us virtually. They will still need to register – and we ask that they also give what they can to make this happen. Then in the next several weeks and months, we will send them ideas and resources for our time together.
